Greetings!
I hope you are all having a blessed week in your walk with Christ. If you are struggling with anything and need the group to pray for you specifically feel free to enter your prayer request as a "comment" on the latest blog entry. The neat thing about this site is that you can enter a comment anonymously so that no one knows who you are.
So I'm sure everyone can't wait for my latest update on the happenings with the Driven Group. If you missed last week, take a look at the following for your latest snapshot:
LAST WEEK
This past Sunday we got together to take a look at the 7th session in THE WAY OF THE MASTER series. In this session, we looked at why we shouldn't try to sell Christianity as a cure all for the trials of this life. To better explain this idea Ray and Kirk used the attack on the World Trade Center as an example of how this approach doesn't lead people to an understanding of their desperate need of a Savior. In this illustration, they asked how our message would change given the opportunity to speak to the people who died there one day before the tragedy occurred. (No, we couldn't warn them not to come to work...)
We left with a challenge to prayerfully consider our approach to sharing the Gospel to those around us. Do we really know how much time a person has left in their life? Why do we wait to share the gospel?
NEXT WEEK
Next Sunday we will finish up this series with final encouragements on sharing Christ with others. We'll take a look at the last video segment and have a summary discussion on this series.
COMING UP
Tailgate Party on 11/09 at 5:15 - 6:30: The vote is in and we have decided to go with a Potluck dinner. Please be sure sign up in class next week for what you are bringing. If the weather is too cold, we will plan on moving events inside.

I tried and tried to get my fellow Nascar attendees to practice our Way of the Master stuff last Sunday, but I couldn't get any takers. :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, as far as prayer requests, please pray for Kraig's cousin, Justin Hankins. He is 13 years old and accidentally swallowed a tack while working on a bulletin board a week or so ago. He was able to tell his parents to take him to the ER. Once there, the GI doctor did a simple procedure (not even a surgery) to remove the tack. Somehow through that process he ended up having to be airlifted to Roanoke (from Bluefield, WV) and put on a ventilator. After a few days they were able to take him off the vent, but he is in a coma. His eyes are open but he is completely unresponsive. The doctors have basically said that there is nothing more they can do, that prayer is all that can help. Please do pray for him.

This mom was told many times that she would lose her baby, that he wasn't "viable," etc. His heart was enlarged, etc. Things got better slowly, but there were several issues that were "certain." He was born today, healthy and is not even in the NICU. Read a little of her story, if you are ever not sure God still does miracles in today's world!!!
Athena, Can you give us an update on Justin? We're praying!
