Well its that time of year again. Thanksgiving is here once again to remind us of all that we have to be thankful for in the United States. I am once again reminded how good I have it compared to most other places in the world. I have all my needs met along with many of my wants. My children have it good as well... In fact, I'd have to say that my children have it just about as perfect as it gets here on earth.
Speaking of my children, do you know what irritates me more than anything? When my children don't show appreciation for all of the good things I've provided for them. I guess its partly because they've never been without or at least have forgotten what it feels like to be without. I'm sure it was the same with my parents when I showed a lack of appreciation for all of the good things they provided me... and with many of your children and parents as well.
So do you think God gets frustrated with us in the same way? Do you think he gets irritated in a God way when we fail to recognize all of the good things he has provided for us? Do you think he gets especially irritated when we fail to show any real appreciation for providing us with the ultimate good thing in his son Jesus Christ?
Last week we looked in part at our apparent lack of appreciation when we compared the average Christian's stats to that of the world. We looked at characteristics the church should be displaying in the form of fruits of the Spirit. We discussed the fact that there seems to be more fruits of the flesh being produced than those of the Spirit.
So what do you think? Does God want our Thanksgiving? If so, how should we show our thanks?
NEXT WEEK:
We'll finish up defining what a church culture should look like by looking at the examples given in the Bible. Once we finish that, John Riddle will take over and we'll begin looking at how we can change the culture in the Church to more reflect the manufacturer's original intent.
HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING!
You did a great job on the lesson Sunday and I agree that God gets frustrated with us. I get frustrated with me too. Keep up the great teaching!!! I love you.
