This past Sunday we took a deeper look at our series "Real Faith in a Real World". We outlined part of what James defines as Real Faith with the following:
Living our life as a
Real Servant with
Real Hope & Joy strengthened through
Real Trials that produce
Real Tests of our faith and develops
Real Perseverance leading to
Real Maturity
We ended the class with a challenge for all of us to check our lives to see if we are living out this pattern. Do we have Real Joy even when we face challenging times in our lives? Is our faith REAL?
Later, in big church, we heard a very similar message from Pastor Moody. Do you think God is trying to communicate something to us? So do you? What are your thoughts on what we've been hearing over the past few weeks? Is God trying to get our attention?
I was unsure where to post this so I will try here. Today in class Freddy used the analogy of a child jumping to his parent in the swimming pool. This spoke to me on several levels. The first thing that came to me was that even when I am waiting to catch my children I make the decision to let them go into the water and get wet. We may get "wet" in life but Jesus still has his arms there wrapped around us. The next thing I thought was that sometimes my children go deeper than I mean for them too but I am still there to steady them and help them feel safe. We often go deeper but Jesus is there to help us if we reach out and grab his hand. He is there to steady us and help us feel safe.
ReplyDeleteThese are just a few thoughts that I had during the lesson today and thought maybe I should share them.
It seems certain that God is trying to tell us something. Week after week our lessons in class and our lessons in big church have mirrored each other. This should not be a shock. When God wants to tell you something he tries every way He can to get your attention. We must begin listening and acting or He will stop talking. God is calling us to be active. Be a catalyst. Put our motions where our mouths are. Stop sitting back and watching church and start living it. Everyday. We have strong leaders in place. People with vision and who listen to God. It is time to take what we are learning apply it. Don't just give the church answers but really live it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the key is to find out how we can help each other. I don't really have an answer, it's just a thought. It's easy to feel alone, even in church. What can I do to make sure I'm the real thing? What can I do to help others around me be the real thing?
ReplyDeleteOver the past several weeks has been great with the lessons from Freddy and sermons from Pastor. I feel that they are a confirmation of what God is calling His people to do. There is a work He is calling us to and it is time for us to get up and get out of the four walls and do it. If we continue to sit and not answer His call we are going to miss out on what He has for our lives. God forgive me for sitting too long and not following you Voice. May I continue to stay on may face before you. Please Lord continue to speak us.
